SLOLAWLINE is a confidential legal hotline and referral program created under the auspices of the San Luis Obispo County Bar Association and the Lawyer Referral and Information Service (LRIS). In conjunction with the creation of SLOLAWLINE, the County Bar Association developed the SLO County Pro Bono Program to provide free legal advice and counsel to callers. In addition, SLOLAWLINE works with self-help programs within the community and with the San Luis Obispo County Superior Court to establish protocols to best serve people in need of legal services who may not have the financial resources to pay legal fees.
The purpose of the program is to provide information about available legal services within San Luis Obispo County. Also, SLOLAWLINE provides free legal advice and counsel to callers seeking brief answers to a legal question.
SLOLAWLINE works with the San Luis Obispo County Superior Court and self-help programs within the community such as California Rural Legal Assistance, and Senior Legal Services Project.
SLOLAWLINE is available five days a week from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 pm. Voice messages are checked regularly. SLOLAWLINE is staffed by volunteer interns from the San Luis Obispo College of Law and California Polytechnic University and supervised by the Pro Bono Coordinator, Attorney Dustin Tardiff.
